Firemen and policemen breaking into the burning home of Nicholas M. Smith, on Woodland Avenue, New Rochelle, at 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning found Mr. Smith in one bedroom and his wife in another, both apparently unconscious. After they had been removed to the homes of neighbors it was found that both had been shot, Smith through the head and his wife through the heart.
